  7. To function correctly, "The Last Dinosaur Egg" requires 
  8. •  Apple Computer's QuickTime™ System Extension to be installed in your Mac 
  9. •  At least 2048K of available RAM
  10. •  A color monitor setting of 256
  11. •  System 7 
  12.  
  13. Instructions for these procedures are provided below.

  17. QuickTime™, Sound Manager, and Sound Control Panel Installation Instructions
  18.  
  19. "The Last Dinosaur Egg" will not work unless the QuickTime extension is present in the System Folder. Sound Manager version 3.0 and Sound Control Panel 8.0.1 have been included to enhance the audio and QuickTime playback performance.

  21. 1)  Open the folder "QuickTime™ & Sound Manager 3.0" from this CD-ROM. 
  22. 2)  Select the three extensions and drag it to your Macintosh's System Folder.  
  23. 3)  When your Mac asks for confirmation on file placement, click "OK" .  
  24. The Mac will then copy the file and install it for you. 
  25. 4)  Restart your Macintosh.

  27. You're ready to experience "The Last Dinosaur Egg"!

  31. RAM Setting Instructions
  32.  
  33. Your Macintosh should have at least 2048 Kilobytes of RAM available. To check this:
  34. 1)  Under the Apple Menu, choose the "About this Macintosh..." item.
  35. 2)  Check to see if there is at least 2,048K in "Largest Unused Block".  
  36. 3)  If you have less RAM than this, ensure that all unnecessary System Extensions and Control Panels are turned off. 
  37. 4)  If you're using a network, turn off your Network extensions to conserve memory.

  39. Note: Owners of double-speed CD-ROM drives will want to use the double-speed option. Animations and screen transitions will be faster.

  43. Color Monitor Setting Instructions
  44.  
  45. SWMC's "The Last Dinosaur Egg" requires a 13-inch, or larger, color monitor.  The monitor must be set to 256 Colors.  Attempting to use the program with the monitor at other settings will result in poor and/or unpredictable performance.

  47. To change your monitor's color setting to 256: 
  48.         1)  Under the Apple Menu, choose the "Control Panels" item. 
  49.         2)  From the "Control Panels" item, open the "Monitors" control panel.  
  50.         3)  Click the "Color" radio button, and  the "256",  in the list on the right.
  51.                  Your monitor is now set to 256 colors.
